Prescription Refill Policy

In order to provide quality care, medication refills are best addressed at the time of your visit with your physician. This allows you to update the physician and to plan any necessary change in your medication. We understand, however, that sometimes this is not possible.

Please call your pharmacy for routine prescription refills. It is your responsibility to call in your refills. Most pharmacies will contact our office regarding renewal of routine medications. All requests from pharmacies are checked for any changes in your medication, such as dosing, quantity, and need for a follow up appointment, which is suggested by your physician.

Once reviewed and approved all request are then returned to your pharmacy with any updates, and amount of refills allowed. Please allow 2 business days.

MAIL ORDER

We no longer fax prescriptions to mail order pharmacies due to volume increases in mail order drugs.

You may call and request your mail order prescription. Your mail order prescription can be picked up at the front desk or at your annual office visit. Please mail your prescriptions to your mail order provider, individuality taped to the forms sent to you by your mail order provider.

Some mail order companies such as Medco, Express Scripts and many others send a request directly to us. Those can be faxed from this office.

PRIOR AUTHORIZATIONS

It is beneficial to have your latest prescription drug list on file with us and also give us a list of medications on your pharmacy benefits formulary.

There are many plans that do not cover brand name medications. When prescriptions are rejected your pharmacy will notify us of rejection and the need for prior authorization.

This process can be lengthy at times if the MD is out of the office. Samples may be provided, if available until this process is completed.
